Emily Marr MS, RDN
My Name is Emily Marr and I’m a registered dietitian nutritionist with my masters in clinical dietetics (however clinical is not really my passion). Im 26 years old, born and raised in sunny california and currently in Orange county, CA. I got my bachelors in applied nutrition and minor in psychology at Cal Poly San luis Obispo, CA and did my masters combined with my dietetic internship at GVSU in Grand Rapids, MI (miss beautiful Michigan, but not the long cold snowy winters, hehe).
My heart lies with mental health and nutrition- specifically eating disorders/disordered eating (orthorexia, “clean eating,” obsessive eating, etc), anxiety/depression in regards to food, intuitive eating (and finding out what that actually means to you), and body kindness/ body positivity (learning to love yourself at every stage of life).
A few things about me (I’ll have more detailed posts about all this to come!)
I have an older brother who is completely deaf and has down syndrome- He is my everything, but definitely a defining person in the story of my life.
I had an eating disorder, one that got me hospitalized and almost died. One that took me to a day treatment center for a few month. One that brought on a long journey of recovery after that (a journey that will be ever evolving).
I have diagnosed anxiety and take meds for it, NO SHAME (but am currently trying to get off).
I have hypothyroidism and hashimoto’s disease (and taking meds for it- but wanting to do more research into nutrition and this disease vs just taking meds for life like all the doctors tell me).
I do have a full time day job that I’m not exactly passionate about, but learning a lot, and figuring out what exactly I truly want to do along the way.
**This space is for me to share my bumpy journey- showing you that even RDs are normal people with hard pasts and hard presents, but hopefully my experiences can make me more relatable, more normal, more human! I hope I can help you in someway. Never hesitate to leave comments, questions, or contact me for anything. I would love to hear from you. Hope you enjoy this space!!
